Hamiltonians are hard-scrabble, feisty and proud, and often wear their defiance in a choice of attire, body art and transportation that is unique and very much “of its place”. There is a historicity to this place and these people that I’m eager to explore.

The rapid pace of social, environmental and economic change in the region makes the moment precious and fleeting. Who will benefit, who will prosper, and who will get left behind as gentrification – sometimes predatory gentrification – collides with social and ecological realities? These questions and their possible answers speak to essential questions of humanity and justice.
